Where SmartSites actually wins.
SmartSites is a large, credible, full-service agency. Their channel coverage is broad, their team is deep, and their reputation in the broader SMB market is established. For a practice that wants one agency to handle SEO, PPC, social, email, web, and creative under one brand, SmartSites is built for that consolidation.
Macbach is not full-service in the same sense. We run four products, Ground, Engine, Lift, Site, plus Architect as the fractional CMO seat. We do not run organic social. We do not run email marketing beyond transactional and review-loop automation. We do not run brand creative outside the site. If you need those capabilities in one vendor, SmartSites covers more surface area than we do.
The fit test: if you want one agency to own the whole marketing stack and accept generalist healthcare depth, SmartSites is the consolidation play. If you want narrow healthcare-only depth across the channels that actually move patient acquisition, paired with best-of-breed vendors or in-house capability for the rest, Macbach is the specialist-plus-stack play. Different operating models.
Before you ask.
- Why should I pick a specialist over a full-service agency?
- Because full-service agencies amortize the cost of channel breadth across every client. If you do not need organic social, email creative, and influencer partnerships, you are paying for overhead you will not use. Specialists run narrower and bill narrower. Neither is right for every practice; it depends on what you actually need.
- Have practices left SmartSites to come to you?
- Occasionally, usually when the practice concluded it was paying for channel coverage it did not use, or when it wanted healthcare-specific depth the generalist pod was not providing. The reverse also happens: practices that need broad channel coverage leave narrow specialists for generalist agencies. Fit, not performance.
- What does SmartSites do better than Macbach?
- Channel breadth under one roof. If you need SEO, PPC, email, organic social, influencer, and creative all in one vendor, SmartSites is structured for that. We will either pair with specialists for those channels or tell you it is outside our scope.
- Do I need all those channels?
- Most healthcare practices do not. Patient acquisition in healthcare is heavily weighted toward local search, organic search, paid search, and a conversion-focused site. Email and social matter for retention and community, but they rarely drive new-patient volume in the verticals we work in. Start with the channels that produce patients; add the rest when they have a defensible role.
- Can you do our organic social?
- No. We do not run organic social and will recommend a specialist for it when it is the right play for a practice. Pretending to run a channel we do not specialize in is not how we work.
